Privacy Policy
How your information is handled when you enquire about a booking. Last updated 8 October 2026.
Who is responsible for your information
This site belongs to James Anthony, a magician, mentalist and stage hypnotist based in Cheshire, who is the data controller for the information described below. You can reach him at info@jamesanthony.co.uk or on 07989 568 304.
What is collected, and when
Nothing is collected simply because you read a page. Information is only collected when you choose to send it, which happens in one of three ways.
If you complete the enquiry form, you provide your name and email address, and optionally a phone number, event type, event date and a message about your event. If you phone or email instead, James holds whatever you tell him in that conversation. That is the whole of it.
Why it is used
Solely to reply to you, discuss your event and provide a quote, and then to make the arrangements if you go ahead with a booking. The lawful basis is legitimate interest in responding to an enquiry you initiated, and performance of a contract once a booking is agreed.
Your details are never sold, and they are not added to a marketing list or used to send you unsolicited email.
Who else sees it
The enquiry form on this site is operated by PerformerDesk, a booking and enquiry management service. When you submit the form, your details are sent to and stored by PerformerDesk on James's behalf, acting as a processor on his instructions. Loading the form also makes your browser request it from performerdesk.com, which means that service receives your IP address as a normal part of serving the page.
Beyond that, information is shared only where it is genuinely needed to run an event, such as giving a venue your event date and requirements, and where the law requires it. There is no advertising network, analytics or tracking on this site, and no cookies are set for those purposes.
How long it is kept
Enquiries that do not lead to a booking are kept for up to two years, so that James can pick up the thread if you come back about a later date, and are then deleted. Records relating to a confirmed booking are kept for six years after the event, which is the period UK tax rules require for business records.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information held about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, or to object to it being used at all. Email info@jamesanthony.co.uk and it will be dealt with within one month. There is no charge, and you do not need to give a reason for asking.
If you are unhappy with how your information has been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk.
Photographs from events
Some photographs on this site were taken at real events. If you appear in one and would rather not, email the address above and it will be removed, without argument.
Changes to this policy
If the way information is handled changes, this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it.
