Illusionist
Illusionist & Stage Illusion Show
A full stage show of illusion, dance and mentalism, built at sea and scaled for anything from an intimate theatre to an arena.
A show built on a skating career
Most illusionists come to the stage through magic alone. James came through sport. After becoming a British Champion ice skater in 1997, he turned that training in movement and performance towards illusion, and built a show that blends dance, large-scale illusion and mentalism.
The result is a show that moves. Appearances, vanishes and transformations are choreographed rather than simply executed, which is why it has worked as a headline act in theatres rather than only as a magic spot.
Proven at sea
The illusion show spent several years as a headline act on some of the most prestigious cruise lines in the world, including Royal Caribbean, Princess Cruises, P&O Cruises, Seabourn, on ships such as the Seabourn Odyssey, Sea Princess, Splendour of the Seas, P&O Oceana and P&O Oriana.
Cruise work is an unforgiving school. The audience changes every week, the venue changes every contract, and the show has to land from the first minute. That is also where the practical side of the act was solved: it is a self-contained fly-on show, roughly sixty-four kilograms of equipment and about ninety minutes long, which can be performed solo or with an assistant.
Scaled to your venue
The same show works at very different sizes. In an intimate theatre or a hotel ballroom, the emphasis shifts towards mentalism, close-quarters illusion and audience interaction. On a large stage, the bigger illusions and the choreography come forward.
For corporate clients, the show can be cut to a twenty or forty-minute feature and built around a product launch or a brand reveal, which is a memorable way to put something new in front of an audience.
Booking the illusion show
Tell us the venue, the stage dimensions and the audience size and we will tell you honestly which version of the show fits. If a full illusion show is more than your event needs, close-up magic or a stage mentalism set may serve you better, and we will say so.
